Stand-up noodle shops serve you Japanese noodle,"soba"
(buckwheat noodle) and "udon" (thick, white wheat noodle).
Some of them serve curry and gyu-don as well.

First, you have to purchase a voucher of food you want to eat
at a vending machine like this.
You give it to the chef working inside the counter. If you can't
find vending machine selling the voucher, you simply have to
say the chef what you want to eat. You pay when the food
is served. Some stand-up noodle shops display the pictures
of food like this so you can understand what is what.

Only couple of minutes later food will be served. All the
noodles are less expensive than that at formal noodle shops
like this or Japanese restaurants. "Kake Soba" (Simple soba
in a hot soy-sauce based broth.) costs around 450 yen.
