Yakiniku is grilled meat. It is cooked on a griddle, often
over charcoal or gas oven, and eaten with vegetables cooked
the same way. There are many specialty yakiniku restaurants
and most of them follow Korean-style barbecue.
You sit around the table in which the grill placed and
barbecue the beef on the grill. You can enjoy two different
types of beef. One is "rous", which is thin slices of marinated
beef and the other is "karubi", short rib of beef slices.
You can also eat "tan" (cows' tongue), "rebaa" (liver), "hatsu"
(heart) etc. and these are popular among the Japanese.

After you order, the waiter/waitress will light your grill.
and bring the ingredients on big plates. Place the meat and
vegetables on the grill. When they are done, take a piece
of them a dip it into sauce offered in a tiny dish and eat.
When you eat "tan" and "hatsu", just sprinkle a bit of salt
and eat.

Beef is expensive in Japan and you might have to pay than
you expected at ordinary yakiniku restaurant when you eat
a lot of meat. So if you want to eat meat as much as you want
and don't want to pay so much, try at the restaurant like this,
which can be recognized by the signboard of "baikingu"
written in "katakana" Japanese
. Beef, pork, chicken,
assorted vegetables (mushrooms, pumpkin, green peppers etc)
are usually available and some of the restaurants also serve
noodle, curry, sushi, tempura, rice, miso soup and more.
It costs around 1,000 yen and you can eat as much as you want.
You have to bring ingredients by yourself at "baikingu" style
yakiniku restaurant. Ordinary yakiniku restaurant serves you better beef.

The tips are quite simple. Just eat meat, but It's easier said
than done.
When you start barbecue, you feel that it takes longer
to roast meat and vegetables than you expected. Then you feel
to eat something before they are done and you notice ham,
sausage, noodle, curry, sushi, tempura, rice, etc. are also served.
You can't help but eating these kinds of things and finally you
can't eat so much meat.
So the tips are
1) Try to concentrate on barbecuing meat.
2) Try not to eat other stuffs that looks quite delicious.
3) Try not to eat rice, first. It is quite tasty to eat barbecued
meat with rice all right, but you will lose your appetite easily
by eating rice
4) Eat meat with sliced radish. Radish help to digest food. You
can find the sliced radish at a salad counter.
