Barbecued chicken meat, giblets, leeks, shiitake mushrooms, green peppers, ginkgo nuts, small quail eggs etc. on a skewer are served at "yakitoriya". Yakitoriya can easily found near the station and usually filled with salaried workers and university students. Yakitoriya consist of only five to eight stools pushed up against a counter. You sit around a counter with other customers and watch the chef grill your choices over charcoal oven. All the items are seasoned with tare (sauce) or salt, so when you order, you have to say whether you want the items grilled with sauce or with salt. Two skewers of any item you order will usually served. The price listed on the menu is the one of "a single" skewer so you have to DOUBLE the price. When served, sprinkle your items with "shichimi" (seven-spice mixture) or dip into mustard if you like and eat. After eating, deposit your used skewers to glass-shaped receptacle on the counter.
